E470 is a toll road along the eastern edge of the Denver metro area. It’s operated and maintained by the E470 Public Highway Authority, which is funded entirely by tolls — not tax dollars.

No. E470 does not receive state or federal funding to operate or maintain the road. Learn more on our Tolls vs. Taxes page.

The E470 Public Highway Authority is guided by eight member jurisdictions: Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas counties, and the cities of Aurora, Brighton, Commerce City, Thornton, and the town of Parker.

Affiliate, non‑voting members include the cities of Arvada, Greeley, and Lone Tree, the City and County of Broomfield, Weld County, and three partner agencies — the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), and the Regional Transportation District (RTD).

Visit our Team page to learn more about the Board of Directors.

E470 crews maintain the roadway year‑round, including snow removal, pavement repairs, safety checks, and general cleanup.

Signs are posted before each tollway entrance and toll point, clearly noting that tolls are collected electronically and no cash is needed.

Pull safely onto the shoulder and call *CSP (*277) for emergency help or *470 for roadway assistance.

Yes. Commercial and fleet vehicles are welcome on E470 and use the same all‑electronic tolling system.

Because E470 receives no state or federal funding, tolls are the primary source of funding to operate and maintain the road.

Visit our Paying Tolls page for step-by-step details.

E470 faced higher construction costs than older toll roads built in the mid‑20th century, and the Authority uses no tax dollars to build or operate the roadway.
E470 also has $1.3 billion in bond debt, and toll revenue supports bond payments, operations, and maintenance.

Toll rates are reviewed and set annually by E470’s Board of Directors.

Tolls are based on the number of axles. Vehicles with more than two axles are charged a higher rate, which is detected automatically at each toll point.

Visit the Northwest Parkway’s website for payment information.
